On March 4, Elmiina Rantanen from Valkeakoskiwill take over the position of CEO of one of the Finland's oldest companies for a day. With Plan International's GirlsTakeover campaign, Posti wants to contribute to promoting the position of young people in society by strengthening the young people's voices at a management level and by involving young people in decision-making.
During the day, Elmiina wants to highlight young people's own message and is happy to be able to share it with Posti employees.
"It is important to make young people's voices heard in order to create a sustainable and good society and good opportunities to make a difference for us young people, who have the whole future in our hands," says Elmiina
In takeovers, young people highlight equality in working life. Globally, girls still have fewer opportunities than boys to get an education and enter working life. There is also room for improvement in equality in working life in Finland.
"As a diverse company we also want to also promote equality and build a caring culture where everyone can truly be themselves. As a large employer, we offer many young people their first job, and it is important for us to create equal opportunities for young people in society. It's great to be part of the GirlsTakeover campaign and encourage young women to take up leadership positions and join the logistics industry. Also, in this way we want to strengthen the position of girls," says Antti Jääskeläinen, President and CEO of Posti
The theme of GirlsTakeover is girls and equality in societal decision-making and the business world. The rights of girls and women are now under widespread threat around the world. Although Finland has historically been a pioneer in gender equality, gender equality is not yet fully realized even in Finland.
The GirlsTakeover campaign organized by the children's rights organization Plan International will be organized in Finland for the eighth time this year.
