Posti's Equality and Non-Discrimination Program has been updated

5/3/2024

The Equality and Non-Discrimination Program is the action program of a Committee of the same name. The committee includes both personnel and employer representatives and it monitors the status of equality and non-discrimination at Posti, promotes it through jointly agreed objectives and maintains an equality feedback channel.

The program meets the requirements of the Finnish equality and non-discrimination legislation. Although it is based on Finnish legislation, it covers all countries where Posti operates and is a common program of the Group. The objectives of the program are in line with Posti's Sustainability Program.

Post has a long tradition of promoting equality. The first equality program was drawn up in 1978, for the period 1980-1985. In 2005, the content was expanded and a section on non-discrimination was added. Since then, the program has been updated every few years.

"The committee has a wide representation from different parts of the company and the work has been done in a good spirit. Diversity is also a wealth in promoting common goals,” says Päivi Rokkanen, Chair of the Committee.

The updating of the program has been based on an assessment of the equality situation at Posti based on interviews and existing data (e.g. the Peakon survey). A description of the assessment is part of the text of the program.

“New elements of the program include the extension of the equality requirement to recruitment. Whereas the previous program had a strong focus on gender equality, the current program also includes other aspects of diversity, for example age or ethnic background,” says Rokkanen.

It also includes the promotion of accessibility in both the physical and digital environment. The structure and text of the program has been clarified.

The focus areas in promoting Equality and Non-Discrimination during the program period 2024–2026 are:

  • Zero tolerance for bullying and harassment

  • Equal pay

  • Equal recruitment

  • Work-life balance

  • Physical and digital accessibility for persons with disabilities

  • Diverse, equal, and inclusive work community
