Juho Haverinen works as Operations Manager at Posti's fulfillment and logistics services warehouse in Lahti. In this role, Juho is responsible for two locations, where, in addition to the team's supervisory work, he acts as a supervisor for external contracted employees and ensures that matters and issued related to customers and handled correctly and as agreed. Taking care of the work safety of the team and the workplace is also a big part of Juho's area of responsibility. His career in logistics began after the army service was completed in 2020, and Juho wanted to work before applying for studying. The summer job also suited his current life situation. Juho hoped that his new job would entail physical work and that he would be able to work with his hands. A suitable opportunity was found at Posti when Juho was offered the opportunity to start at a summer job at a retail warehouse for fulfillment and logistics services in Lahti (formerly named Transval).
The work began with a comprehensive orientation, during which the inductor accompanied Juho. Fortunately, help was always close, as everything was still new. At Posti, work orientation always proceeds on the terms of the new employee, and work continues independently as soon as it feels comfortable. Juho started working in voice picking, where products are collected with a small picking forklift according to instructions coming from the headphones. In audio picking section, the supervisor went through the day's work tasks at the beginning of the day, after which the tasks were distributed. An enthusiastic attitude helped, and Juho was soon able to learn new tasks, such as receiving incoming goods at the warehouse. Soon Juho was already in control of many of the tasks in the warehouse. The summer passed quickly while working, and at the same time Juho's thoughts about studying changed as he was carried away by the world of logistics.
The experience gained in summer job encouraged Juho to take the next step in his career
After the summer job ended, Juho was offered an extension to his contract. After six months Juho continued his journey and became a team leader, from where Juho later advanced to the position of supervisor. Today, Juho's area of responsibility has grown even further, and he works as an operations manager while studying to become a logistics engineer alongside his work. "I had learned a lot during the summer. I also had the opportunity to assist the supervisor in various tasks. The career opportunities in logistics started to interest me more and more and I wanted to learn how logistics could be developed," says Juho.
