Posti to Participate in the UN Climate Conference: Showcasing Solutions for Emission Reduction

11/21/2023

Posti will attend the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai this December. For the first time, Finland will feature its own pavilion. Hosted by Business Finland, this pavilion will highlight Finland's innovative approaches to reducing emissions, featuring an array of companies from various sectors, alongside organizations and ministry representatives.

"We have consistently encouraged companies, both in Finland and globally, to actively combat climate change by setting science-based targets and investing in net-zero emission solutions," explains Anna Storm, Posti's VP of Stakeholder Relations & Director of Sustainability. "This commitment is why we're eager to share our insights at the UN climate conference."

Posti boasts a rich history of international collaboration in minimizing its environmental footprint. The company became a member of the UN Global Compact in 2008. By 2020, Posti had committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, with its ambitions to achieve fossil-free operations by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2040, recently receiving endorsement from the SBTi.

Earlier this year, Posti joined the UN General Assembly Week as a part of Finland's official delegation in collaboration with Global Compact Finland.

Additionally, Posti endorsed the We Mean Business Coalition's Fossil to Clean petition, urging government leaders, prior to the climate summit, to adopt clear policies for a fair transition to clean energy. The petition is supported by companies, committed to science-based goals, with a cumulative turnover of nearly one trillion dollars.

"The climate crisis demands collective action. Those with the capability and resources must shoulder the greatest responsibility. Our aim is to foster international collaboration to swiftly curb emissions," Storm asserts.
