In his role as Head of Software Development at Posti’s TecHub, Goran Gjorgievski oversees software development in Finland. He also serves as a supervisor to all of Posti's software developers, while also managing external consultants and partners. In his daily work, Goran supports and helps software developers. He is involved with recruiting new developers, onboarding them and assigning them to specific roles. He also promotes developer culture and takes care of people.
"I support and advise our people in whatever they need, whether it’s coaching or discussing day-to-day problems. I would say that my role is to be everywhere at once. My work is successful when they don't need me or don't notice I’m not there”, Goran explains.
Cooperation is powerful
Goran’s work includes a lot of supporting and enabling collaboration between developers and teams. One example is the popular OmaPosti application, which is cross-team built. OmaPosti has more than one million active users each month and its most used functionality, delivery tracking, is being used more than 3 million times a month. Since all the teams are connected to each other, collaboration between them is critical.
“No matter which team you are working in, or if you are an internal or external colleague, we are all aiming for the same goals at Posti and we can all learn something from each other. People here are super collaborative, skilled and professional”, says Goran.
A self-driven attitude and flat hierarchy
Goran really enjoys his working environment and the people around him. He says that people at Posti take responsibility and are self-driven. It doesn't even feel like working for a large organization. He explains that the organization of TecHub is very flat, and everybody is treated equally.
“My leadership style focuses on empowering the people, allowing them to thrive and excel. Their wellbeing is of utmost importance, as is creating a supportive working environment. I believe that focusing on the employees and their growth ultimately leads to positive customer experiences’’ Goran explains.
